B’nai B’rith has issued letters to multiple allied countries that previously filed briefs with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to request that they submit supplemental filing.

In July, B’nai B’rith International, B’nai Brith Canada and the B’nai B’rith World Center-Jerusalem jointly sent a submission to the ICJ with arguments why the court should refuse to engage with the outrageous request for an advisory opinion against Israel that was referred to it by the U.N. General Assembly in December 2022.

Countries which filed timely briefs with the International Court of Justice are permitted to submit a supplemental filing by Oct. 25.

In advance of the filing deadline, B’nai B’rith is offering support for potential forthcoming submissions, including additional arguments outlining why issuing an advisory opinion against Israel at this time will shape the Israeli-Arab conflict in a way that is destructive to the prospects of peace.

“For the ICJ to proceed with issuing an advisory opinion that ignores, talks around, justifies, equivocates or minimizes the savagery of the Hamas-led massacre can only show its inability to administer meaningful productive justice and the need for its immediate dismantling of Hamas” the letter states.

In the wake of the ongoing war unleashed on Israel by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, this submission is more critical than ever.

B’nai B’rith has led Jewish communal engagement with the United Nations since the U.N.’s very founding in 1945. We will continue to speak up about the misuse of international political and legal instruments to target the world’s only Jewish state.
